Verizon Steps Up with $10,000 Donation to Support West Virginia Flood Recovery

We’re deeply grateful to announce that Verizon has contributed $10,000 to Appalachian Outreach, Inc. (AOI) in response to the devastating flash flooding that struck Ohio and Marion counties in West Virginia on June 15, 2025. This unprecedented event brought 3 to 4 inches of rainfall in under an hour, resulting in tragic fatalities and severe infrastructure damage—roads, bridges, buildings, and homes were heavily impacted, and thousands faced power outages. The National Guard was also mobilized to aid emergency operations (Verizon, GuruFocus, GlobeNewswire).

Verizon’s support helps AOI extend a wide range of relief services—from essential supplies and a safe space to rest and recharge with charging stations, to coordinated efforts through the Red Cross and West Virginia’s Department of Health and Human Resources (Verizon, GuruFocus).

As Anthony Lewis, Verizon’s Region Vice President of State Public Policy and Government Affairs, emphasized: “When natural disasters unfold, our priority is to swiftly mobilize resources and provide support where it’s needed most. … Our partnership with Appalachian Outreach, Inc., further enables the delivery of immediate relief and ongoing support residents deserve as they work to recover and rebuild.” (Verizon)

Heather Ray, Executive Director of AOI, shared her gratitude: “We are beyond grateful to Verizon for their compassion and commitment to West Virginia families. … This support allows us to meet urgent needs—like hygiene items, clothing, food, and cleaning supplies—while also standing beside families as they begin the long journey toward recovery.” (Verizon)

Thank you to everyone at Verizon for helping us make a difference in Appalachia!
