Dear Friends of AOI,
As summer fades and children prepare to head back to school, most families are busy picking out new backpacks, fresh supplies, and clothes that fit just right. But for many of our neighbors here in the Ohio Valley, this season looks very different. Instead of excitement, there is worry. Instead of shopping trips, there are hard choices between food, gas, or school supplies.
At Appalachian Outreach, Inc., we see this struggle every day. Parents come to us heartbroken, wanting nothing more than to give their children the tools they need to succeed, yet unable to afford even the basics. And it’s not just children—flood victims and families facing poverty are still trying to rebuild their lives, needing food, hygiene products, and household items just to get through each day.
We are working tirelessly to meet these needs—distributing essentials to schools and organizations monthly, offering clothing and supplies to families, and providing meals and support to those who would otherwise go without. But the truth is: we cannot do this without you.
Right now, your support matters more than ever. A gift today could mean a backpack for a child who has none. It could mean hygiene items for a teenager too embarrassed to return to class without them. It could mean food on the table for a family still struggling in the aftermath of disaster.
Together, we can make sure no child enters the school year feeling left behind, and no family feels forgotten.
Please consider making a donation today. Your generosity will ease burdens, restore hope, and remind our neighbors that this community cares deeply for them—especially in times of need.
With gratitude,

Heather Ray, Executive Director AOI
